What happens if my free Moodle site is inactive?

Moodiy free Moodle sites are intended for active use. If a free site is inactive for an extended period, Moodiy may send warning emails and later suspend or terminate the site. A free site may also be cancelled if setup was never completed or if cancellation was requested. This article applies to free Essential Hosting sites with no recurring charge. If your site has paid services, paid add-ons, overdue invoices, or a custom support arrangement, the lifecycle may be different. Inactive free sites Moodiy may send low-usage warning emails before suspending an inactive free Moodle site. These warnings are based on recent Moodle site access, not only whether the Moodiy account exists. The current default timeline is: 1. After about 30 days without recorded Moodle site access, Moodiy may send a low-usage warning. 2. Moodiy sends at most two low-usage warnings. The warnings are normally about 30 days apart. 3. If the site is still inactive after 75 days since the last recorded Moodle site access, it may become eligible for suspension after the warning cycle has completed. 4. If the site is suspended and remains unresolved, it may become eligible for termination after a further 30 days. The exact dates can vary if the service has a special status, paid add-ons, manual review, or a policy change. Check the client portal or contact support if you need the exact date for your site. What makes the site active again? Moodiy uses the Moodle site's recorded last access. In normal use, the site becomes active again when someone successfully logs in to that Moodle site and uses it. Logging in to the Moodiy client portal alone is not the same as using the Moodle site. Visit the Moodle site itself and log in with a Moodle user account. After Moodle activity is recorded, the next background stats update can refresh the inactivity status. If you already received a warning, new Moodle activity may reset the warning cycle. Suspension If a free site remains inactive after the warning period, Moodiy may suspend the hosting service. When a site is suspended: 1. Visitors and users may no longer be able to access the Moodle site. 2. The site is not deleted immediately. 3. The client portal may show the service as suspended or scheduled for termination. 4. You should contact support quickly if you still need the site. Support can check the exact service status, reason, and dates. Do not wait until the termination date if the site contains data you still need. Termination A suspended free site can later become eligible for termination. The normal default grace period after suspension is 30 days, but support should always verify the exact date on your service. When a site is terminated: 1. The live Moodle hosting can be removed. 2. Moodiy free subdomain records can be removed. 3. Reactivation is no longer a normal unsuspension. 4. Recovery depends on whether a usable backup or retained artifact is available. Moodiy performs safety checks before destructive cleanup, but these checks are not a guarantee that a terminated free site can always be restored. Customer-requested cancellation If you request cancellation for a free site with no paid active or suspended add-ons, Moodiy may suspend the site and schedule termination. Contact support before the termination date if the cancellation was accidental or if you still need data from the site. Pending free site setup If you started a free site order but did not finish the setup, Moodiy may send reminder emails instead of suspending a live site. If the setup remains incomplete for too long, the pending order may be cancelled. How to keep a free site active 1. Log in to the Moodle site and use it periodically. 2. Complete any pending free-site setup steps from the client portal. 3. Keep your account email address up to date so warning emails reach you. 4. Check the client portal if you receive a suspension, termination, or setup reminder. 5. Contact support before the termination date if you need the site or its data.
