Export your site

Last updated on Nov 07, 2026

Save a copy of your Moodle site before cancelling your hosting. Finish the export and save the files somewhere you control before you confirm cancellation.

  1. Open your site in the Moodiy portal. Select Management, then System Operations → Site export under Export Moodle site.

  2. Under Select backup to export, choose Full site (database + Moodledata) in New export of current site to include the database and Moodledata, such as course files, uploads and images. Database only (no Moodledata) leaves those files out. If you want an earlier copy, select an available entry under Automatic backups and check its type and date.

  3. Under Export method, choose Download link if available. If the page requires Object storage, select a configured storage target and follow the page’s setup guidance.

  4. Choose Request export. Review any displayed charge before confirming. If the request shows Pay, complete the payment flow before waiting for the export.

  5. Follow the request in Export Requests. Wait for Ready. Use Refresh to check its status. If it says Completed with warnings, ask support to check completeness before relying on the copy.

  6. For a download export, use Download backup (ZIP) when offered. If the row instead offers separate Database and Moodledata downloads, save both for a full copy. For Object storage, check the delivery location shown as Uploaded to and retain the required export data in your bucket.

  7. Check that your downloads have finished and keep the files securely. Portal download links are temporary. Download promptly; if the portal shows an expiry, download before it. Complete this before cancelling your service.

If an export fails, needs review, or cannot be downloaded, follow the message shown and contact support with your site URL and export request details before proceeding with cancellation.
